Review – Tantalize EP – ( Kimochi ) / GBR

british-flagFor its eleventh release, Kimochi Sound features the work of Germany’s RDMA. The record is made up of four atmospheric rather dreamy cuts that range in temperament. “Fanciful” is a gracefully moody contradiction. Feeling somber yet hopeful, the melodies and pads are light and rich, supported by a reggae-like bass line. Meanwhile “Awkward” slithers and saunters about with its playful respiring swing.

Side B holds an interesting interaction between the gritty likes of “Purposeful” and “Resolved”. The former sees some dark storm clouds roll in with lush pads and shadowy intricacies. The squall seems to have passed leaving grey skies behind in the latter, as it opens up with a moody notes and a recording of children playing. Making a splash on wax with his first EP, RDMA also fits right in with the rest of the Kimochi collection, meaning there is no shortage of interesting sound palettes here.
